ART CATEGORY WINNER

"This piece is about the lynchings in the American south leading up to and in the 1950s. My inspiration for this piece and its title comes from the Billie Holiday song “Strange Fruit” along with the Black Lives Matter movement which received a lot of attention in early 2020, during lockdown, when I began making it. I've entered this competition because I want to continue to highlight that this is not a new struggle and shouldn’t be forgotten about now that it's not in the media as much."
