What is the REACH study?
The REACH study will help us understand the best ways to promote good mental health in young people from all backgrounds.
Why is reach important?
Most mental health problems begin when people are still at school. To provide the most effective help during this critical time, we need to have a better understanding of what leads to worse mental health and what promotes good mental health.
What does REACH involve?
The REACH study is being conducted in school in south London. We are inviting all young people in participating schools aged between 11 and 14 (Years 7 to 9) to take part. All those who take part will complete a short questionnaire about their mental health and positive and negative life experiences. Some young people - chosen at random - will be invited to complete a further questionnaire and some reasoning tasks. This will help us better understand why, despite similar life experiences, some young people experience mental health problems and others do not.
